Rainaway FAQ

How does the RainAway System work?

Simply put, we attach our ceiling on the underside of the deck. It drains the water away from the house and into a gutter system which leads to the downspout. Our roof is a ceiling under your deck, which keeps it dry and clean for entertaining, storage, and many other uses.

How is the RainAway system different from the other companies?

Having been in the industry since it’s inception since 1995, we have researched and tested just about every possible avenue of water diversion. When we came out with the ventilated smooth panel system, we knew there was nothing else in existence like it. Allowing air flow and ventilation is vital to the life of the joist structure and of the deck. While our system does have the patented custom brackets for extra support, the panels can be taken down for general maintenance or other needs. Over the years, there have been numerous other companies and contractors who have attempted to beautify and dry out the area under decks. We strongly recommend that you do extensive research with any contractor who works on your home.

What about the ventilation?

Ventilation is very important to allow the system to dry out quickly and efficiently after a rainfall. Our system incorporates vents to allow for a movement of air above and below the system, while maintaining the watertight space for you to use.

Does it come in different colors?

Yes, we currently stock 6 colors: white, eggshell, cream, cocoa brown, clay and bronze. Optional colors are also available.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes, the RainAway system comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Can I buy the material and install the ceiling myself?

In order to maintain the highest level of quality control, the RainAway Systems are only installed by our certified technicians. All of our installers are employees of RainAway, we do not use sub-contractors.

How long does the average installation take?

It all depends on the size of the deck. A typical install will average 2-3 days.

Can I hang ceiling fans, lights, and swings with the RainAway system?

Yes, we can prepare the RainAway system to support ceiling fans, can lights, porch swings, planters, or anything else you’d like to hang from the ceiling.

What is included with a RainAway system?

Every RainAway System quote includes the entire gutter system and appropriate number of downspouts.

Will deck treatments or stains damage the system?

No, deck treatments or staining the deck above will not damage the RainAway system. However, the RainAway Under Deck surface will stain if the exposed side is splashed.

How much does it cost?

Every RainAway System is priced on-site. However, if you happen to know the square footage or measurements of the deck, feel free to call us for a free estimate over the phone 770.928.RAIN or 404.213.7434. You may also email your information to us at info@rainaway.com.

What happens to the leaves/pinestraw that fall through the cracks of the deck?

Most of the debris that falls through the deckboards will flush itself through the RainAway System. It is recommended that the outside gutter be maintained and flushed out as needed. Simply raise the panel and use a garden hose to flush out the gutter. Average volumes of debris will only require an annual cleaning.

Do you have liability and workers comp insurance?

Yes, we can email a copy of each with a simple request.

How long after ordering RainAway will it be installed?

We install our systems in the order that they come in and the lead time varies during the year. Please call the office to find out an up-to-date lead time. Our crews always complete a project 100% before beginning a new installation.

Does your aluminum system have any adverse effects with the ACQ lumber?

It does not, we were prepared to adapt our system to the new lumber before it even hit the shelves in 2005. No part of the aluminum has direct contact with the ACQ lumber and we always use “ACQ approved” fasteners.
